Olympian - Nina Jivanevskaia Nina competed in China August 2008 to make this her 5th Olympics. Swimming in the semi finals in the 100 back stroke with a time of 1.00.65.

Nina has now retired from competetive swimming. Presently working as a Manager and Head Coach in Malaga in Spain.

Nina has competed in 4 Olympics; 1992,1996 Atlanta Games.
2000 Sidney Games where she won a bronze medal in the 100 backstroke.
2004 Greece Games where she ranked 9th in the women's 100 backstroke.

In 2000 Nina set the World record in the 50 backstroke long course in Madrid March 2000. Coach by Cecil Russell from 1998-2004

Nina was World Champion in 2001-2003 in the 50 meter backstroke.

Since 1998 Nina has won over 5 Gold Medals in The European Championships, a Bronze Medal in the 2000 Olympics, achieved a World and European Record in 2000 for the 50 meters Backstroke in a time of 28.69 and gained a Gold Medal at The World Championships in Barcelona for the 50 meters Backstroke.

During her career as a competitive swimmer Nina has changed the National Record books of Spain over 33 times in the Short Course and Long Course meter pools.
Nina has consistently ranked as one of the top 3 swimmers in the World since 1998 - 2004 in the 50 and 100 meter backstroke events.

Nina is considered the 'primera mejores natador' in Spain. Champion of Europa Lisboa 99

Nina was coached by Cecil Russell during 1998 - 2004 and presently coach by Francis Medina her husband who was Coach Russell assistant coach and Team Manager during their tenture together
