On Sunday September 22nd, Dolphins Swim Club hosted an awards ceremony to celebrate the team's successes in the 2018-2019 year. The awards included best performance in age group, most improved in age group, most spirited, club-record setter, and best overall performance. The evening also included a warm welcome to new swimmers on the team. During the awards night, guest speakers Andrew Norris and Jeff Dixon talked about what it means to be a successful swimmer.
Former competitive swimmer Andrew Norris talked to the athletes about how swimming changes your life in the long run. Including introducing healthy habits and discipline that will stay with you forever. Jeff Dixon, father of two successful Dolphins athletes Lauren Dixon and William Dixon, spoke about what it means to be the parent of a successful athlete. Including what it takes to be the parent of an athlete that makes it to Olympic trials and of an athlete who gets a scholarship for swimming.
Senior Coach Consultant Coach Russell spoke about the club's successes before the awards were given away. "The club records are not very easy to break," he said, "but we have had outstanding swimmers this year who have broken our records, set national records, and more". Coach Russell went on to talk about Dolphins Swim Club's overall successes, including two world records, 6 Olympic finalists, and 19 scholarships since 2005.
